Journeys Through Space & Time: Black Migration in Afrofuturism

On Friday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m., come to the Paddison Memorial Branch to participate in an evening with NC State University Interdisciplinary lecturer Darrell Stover to learn about the history and examples of the exciting aesthetics of the art and cultural movement known as Afrofuturism.

Tooth Fairy Storytimes

The Tooth Fairy will be visiting the Lewisville Branch Library on Tuesday, Jan. 29 and on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 10:15 a.m. to share stories, fingerplays, songs and activities about dental health. All ages are welcome. Presented by Tina S. Merhoff & Associates Pediatric Dentistry.


"Talking Black in America"

On Friday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m. , the Paddison Memorial Branch will be showing the documentary film "Talking Black in America", which chronicles the impact of African American English on American language and culture. Filmed across the U.S., this documentary is a revelation of language as legacy, identity and triumph over adversity. A brief Q&A session with one of the film's producers will follow.


"Negro Terror": A Film by John Rash

The Paddison Memorial Branch invites you to a Saturday Matinee featuring "Negro Terror", a film by John Rash. The film is a cinematic and musical portrait of a punk band's role in the vibrant and eclectic underground music community of Memphis, Tenn. A brief Q&A session with the filmmaker will follow. Recommended for ages 18 and up, the film has strong language and scenes.
