February Detention Staff Member of the Month

On February 20, 2024, Detention Officer L. Spencer demonstrated exceptional vigilance and quick thinking while on duty in the 4 North control room of the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. Towards the end of her shift, Officer Spencer noticed a resident in the 4A Housing Unit exit his cell without assistance from officers. As the resident was running through the housing unit, Officer Spencer observed an object fall from the pocket of his jumpsuit. Officer Spencer identified the item as potential contraband, resembling a weapon. Without hesitation, she promptly contacted the Shift Commander. Thanks to Officer Spencer's observation and immediate action, the Shift Commander and his team were able to conduct a thorough search of the resident and his cell. As a result, they discovered a homemade weapon crafted from metal. Officer Spencer's unwavering dedication to the safety and security of the facility, as well as her colleagues, is truly commendable. Her exemplary conduct serves as a shining example of excellence within our facility, setting a high standard for others to follow. Congratulations, Officer Spencer, on a job well done!
