New Year's Workshop Led by Jennifer L. Stevenson

Start the New Year with a new plan! Forsyth County Public Library presents a writing workshop on developing creative, can-do action plans on Tuesday, January 17, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at the Central Library.

“Creative Goals: Turning Dreams Into Reality” will be led by award-winning writer Jennifer L. Stevenson. During the workshop, Stevenson will discuss how to refine creative projects and goals, then how to develop a step-by-step plan to achieve them.

Resource material will be provided and light refreshments will be served. No writing experience is needed, but participants should bring paper and pen or pencil for the writing exercises. The workshop is free and is open the public.

“We have great power in making our dreams come alive,” said Stevenson, a professional writer whose work has been published more than 2,000 times in newspapers and magazines across the country. “As dreamers, we must be visionaries and methodical planners,” she says.

The workshop is an ideal way to work on all types of creative dreams. Some include writing a novel or memoir, completing an artwork, but also those of personal fulfillment such as a new career, going back to school, or a vacation to a far-off place.

Stevenson teaches writing at Salem College, and her work is also featured in the new book, Taking Flight: Winston-Salem in Prose and Poetry. For her coverage of civil rights as a senior staff writer for the St. Petersburg (Fl.) Times, Stevenson was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, journalism’s highest honor.

Stevenson will lead this writing workshop to help you get the off on the right foot for the New Year. Reach for your dreams starting at this workshop and learn to define and develop a list of possiblities.

Have you had a dream you could not realize and then wondered what you wanted? Learn to write it down and visualize it. It will happen.
