Girls With A Purpose

In an effort to make sure that young girls today have current and accurate information to help them make good life choices, the Carver School Road Branch Library offers monthly programs for girls ages 11-17.

Started in 2007, Girls with a Purpose (GWAP) offers various programs including classes on etiquette, SAT preparation, self-esteem, finances, and relationships. In 2008 GWAP was a recipient of a Women's Fund Grant enabling them to offer several life skills workshops. Today classes are presented by professionals from local agencies and organizations. Recently Carver has partnered with Department of Social Services, Relatives as Parents Program (RAPP) to further extend programming and information to this age group.

Programs run all year long on the fourth Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm of each month except when noted. For more information please contact Carver School Road Branch Library at 336-703-2910 or RAPP Program Coordinator, Teresa Bryant at 336-703-3744.

Also visit the GWAP Bookshelf when you're at Carver Library. It is loaded with timely books for young girls!
