Here Comes Summer Reading 2012

If ever another official holiday were added to the calendar we propose it be in June, and that it coincide with the start of our annual Summer Reading program. In June the weather is warm but not really hot, the kids are out of school but not yet bored, naps just feel more relaxing and for whatever reason a good book just somehow reads much better in the soothing comforts of June than in any other month of the year.

With that said, we invite you to join us for our Summer Reading Kickoff, a seven-week long excursion of fun entertainment, prizes and most of all reading-pleasure, for children, teens and adults.

Kick-off is Friday, June 8th at Central Library. We'll start at 6:30 pm and lead up to our featured entertainment, Big, Bang, Boom at 7 pm. If you've never heard of Big, Bang, Boom then just ask your kids or grand kids. Big Bang Boom delivers a rollicking good time with high-energy, toe-tapping music that will put a spring in your step and the zippidy in your do da.

Bright Star Touring Theatre returns as our featured entertainment for kids, appearing at each Library location in June or July. Check our Summer Reading calendar of events for kids, teens and adults for complete information and included recommended reading lists for children, teens and adults.

Summer Reading runs from June 8th through July 27th. Enjoy music, magic shows, author visits and many entertaining programs at the Library. Participants are encouraged to read as many age-appropriate books as possible during this time. Drawings for gift cards will be done at each Library location for each of the three age levels, children, teens and adults.
