Tuesdays at Tanglewood: Who Lives Here? Dragonflies

Join Brian Bockhahn of NC State Parks for an up-close view of dragonflies in their natural habitat at Tanglewood Park on Tuesday, July 30. Who Lives Here? Dragonflies begins at 10:00 am at Shelter 2.

During Part I at Shelter 2, Brian Bockhahn will teach ID, basic biology, migration, and the best ways to observe these beautiful insects. Play games and use natural materials to make your own sparkly dragonfly. (Note: Part I of this program is open to the public with no pre-registration required. Immediately after the public program, Brian will offer Part II, an "up-close" session for pre-registered guests only.)

During Part II, we will travel to one of the park’s aquatic habitats at Shelter 3 to observe the beauty and behaviors of these fascinating insect predators through the use of binoculars and “catch-and-release” methods. Pre-registration is required for Part II.

The Tuesdays at Tanglewood programs are part of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools The Amazing Summer ESCAPE Challenge. Click the link for more information and to register your student today!

Participants should bring their own sunscreen, insect repellent, and water bottle, and wear comfortable hiking clothes and shoes. Children ages 16 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
