Money Smart Week

The Library sponsors this annual series of programs to help you learn how to be smart with your money. The following programs are scheduled for Money Smart Week 2015:

April 18 at 2 pm
Clemmons Branch
Making a Million- Basics of Investing. Presented by Betty Ann Falkner from The Center for Smart Financial Choices. Learn why investing is important, how to do it safely and the terms you should know. This course serves as an introduction to the basics of investment planning for young adults and novice investors and will aid individuals in thinking about their own future investment needs.

April 20 at 7 pm
Kernersville Branch
How to Raise Your Credit Score. Presented by Glenn Kirk from Summit Credit Union. Banking secrets you need to know. Tips on how to raise your credit score and things people mistakenly do that lowers their score... it's not always common sense.

April 21 at 11 am
Reynolda Manor Branch
Fraud and Identity Theft. Presented by Glenn Kirk from Summit Credit Union. Current schemes and information about how crooks are trying to steal your money.

April 21 at 2 pm
Carver School Road Branch
Fraud and Identity Theft. Presented by Glenn Kirk from Summit Credit Union. Current schemes and information about how crooks are trying to steal your money.

April 21 at 2:45 pm - For teenagers in grades 6-8.
April 21 at 4:15 pm - For teenagers in grades 9-12.
Walkertown Branch
Money Habitudes for Teens. Presented by Betty Ann Falkner from The Center for Smart Financial Choices. A card game gets high school students to talk about money in a fun, non-threatening way. The hands-on conversation starter and money personality assessment helps teens understand their own unique spending habits and attitudes that affect their financial decisions.

April 22 at 2 pm
Rural Hall Branch
Fraud and Identity Theft. Presented by Glenn Kirk from Summit Credit Union. Current schemes and information about how crooks are trying to steal your money.

April 22 at 7 pm
Reynolda Manor Branch
Social Security and Retirement. Presented by Marc Lopresti from Summit Credit Union. When can you retire and other insights into maximizing your Social Security income, spousal benefits, disability, and other SSA concerns.

April 27 at 6:30 pm
Southside Branch
Financial Pitfalls Facing College Students.
Presented by Lindy Fuller from Summit Credit Union's Business Development Office. This program for parents AND students raises financial and money management issues crucial to any college student.
