Meditation for a More Peaceful & Healthy Life for Adults with Ann McCarty at Walkertown November 28

Try our new class "Meditation for a More Peaceful & Healthy Life". Join experienced Mindfulness instructor Ann McCarty and learn how to lower stress and be present to whatever comes your way. This free mindfulness meditation class is on Wednesdays, Nov. 14 & 28 at 10 a.m. Through sitting and walking meditation exercises, Ms. McCarty will instruct attendees on how they can skillfully meet life’s difficulties through breathing and mindful movement.

Attendees should dress comfortably. Bring a sweater or sweatshirt in case you get cold. You may also bring a cushion if you wish, although chairs will also be available. There will be some meditative walking. Those with knee or leg problems may wear shoes, otherwise socks are preferred.

People of all ages are turning to meditation to help them lead more peaceful, happier and healthier lives. In particular, meditation can aide seniors in reducing feelings of loneliness. The practice of regular meditation may also help them to sharpen their minds and boost their immune systems. Meditation often serves to relieve insomnia and ease chronic pain, especially for those past the age of fifty.

Ms. McCarty initially began her career as an educator in the public school system. After switching careers, she was a Physician Assistant for over thirty years and served on the faculty of the PA Program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She has taught mindfulness since 2005 and has a strong personal meditation practice of her own.

This program is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Walkertown Library.

Wednesdays Nov. 28, Dec. 5 & 12.
