History of the Children's Home at the Central Library

The Children's Home has been part of Winston-Salem's history since before Winston and Salem merged. Opened along Reynolda Road in 1909, this home for orphaned children has been through many changes. Now named Crossnore School and Children's Home, this long standing institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church, has provided a place for children to live, work, and learn for generations in Winston-Salem. Through the years the children who resided there, along with their caretakers, made the Children's Home a place to call home. Visit the exhibit, curated by Children's Home alumni, at the North Carolina Collection on the second floor of the Central Library. The exhibit will run from September 24 through December 31, 2018.
