Rod Meyer portrait exhibit at the Central Library through Dec. 31.

We hope you'll stop by the Central Library to see the exhibit of portraits of American authors painted by artist Rod Meyer.

This exhibit combines two of Meyer's interests: American literature and portrait painting. These are 19th and 20th century authors that he has enjoyed reading and studying. Meyer also taught classes on these authors as a literature professor at Wake Forest University. The paintings are based on photographs found in various biographies of the authors, which gave Meyer a sense of the subject's life and character that he could incorporate into the portraits.

The exhibit of author portraits is on display on the second floor of the Central Library until the end of December.
