Teen Chef: The Sweet Potato

Often served in America on Thanksgiving the sweet potato has a long history in the American cuisine, especially here in the south. The sweet potato became a favorite food item of the French and Spanish settlers and thus created a long history of cultivation in Louisiana. Sweet potatoes are recognized as the state vegetable of North Carolina. This month we'll delve into this simple vegetable with two different dishes, a loaded sweet potato press and sweet potato pie in a mug. Teens will need to register and have their parent/guardian sign a waiver for participation.

Teen Chef is a simple cooking program catered to teens, showing them simple and often no-bake recipes. A program waiver is needed to participate.
