Dr. Michael Sistrom, History Dept. Chair at Greensboro College, will present information about Forsyth County men’s and women's military service during World War I, but will highlight the local homefront experience. The event is sponsored by the Walkertown Area Historical Society. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, 6:30 p.m. at the Walkertown Branch library.
The Kernersville Branch Library will have limited hours of operation beginning Oct. 29 to prepare for the opening of the new Paddison Memorial Library. The limited hours of operation will be Mon.-Wed. from 1-8 p.m., Thurs.-Fri. from 1-6 p.m., and Sat. from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. These hours will remain until the branch closes on Nov. 21.
When Daria Peoples-Riley heard her daughter say that she wanted to be a ballerina, she kept thinking about the odds against an African-American young woman in this field of dance. This led her to write and illustrate "This Is It", a book about an aspiring dancer that celebrates self-expression. She will be speaking about her book and participate in a special storytime and dance party at the Central Library and storytime at Reynolda Manor Branch between Nov. 16-17. Free and open to the public.
Learn how to get started as an indie author from two of the best! Shelva R. Davis and Latisha R. Stuckey will lead mini-sessions and one-on-one talks to help you get started as an author. This event will be held at the Carver School Road Branch Library on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.
All Forsyth County Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12 for Veterans' Day. All branches will also close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21.
