July Civilian Staff Member of the Month
Lewis Moore has been assigned as the Sheriff’s Accreditation Specialist since the agency decided to seek accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in 2006. Mr. Moore was instrumental in ensuring that the agency obtained its initial accreditation in 2010 by revising policies and procedures to meet international standards. While maintaining accreditation standards is an on-going process where all staff members must be involved, there must be a driving force to ensure that organization and the appropriate documentation is compiled. Mr. Moore has been that driving force and has been responsible for making certain that all aspects of the process are in place.
CALEA requires an on-site assessment every three years to evaluate files, reports, documentation, and the physical activities conducted by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office to ensure compliance with established standards. In July 2013, the Sheriff’s Office experienced its first reaccreditation evaluation. Mr. Moore spent countless hours and weekends working to ensure that the evaluation was conducted smoothly. Although the Sheriff’s Office will not officially receive notification from the CALEA Commission in November 2013 as to the decision to continue agency accreditation compliance, Mr. Moore is commended for his dedication and leadership to make this process a positive experience. Through his efforts with the CALEA accreditation process, Mr. Moore has been instrumental in making the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office a more professional agency that meets or exceeds international established standards.
Mr. Moore is commended for his dedication to ensure that the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office meets and exceeds the best practices in law enforcement.
