On October 5th, Corporal Burcham responded to a call involving a female juvenile who had intentions to harm herself. Corporal Burcham arrived and found the juvenile in the kitchen of the residence with her mother. Corporal Burcham removed the mother from the room, for her safety, and began talking to the juvenile. Corporal Burcham attempted to move in close to the female to disarm her but was unable to do so. He then relied on his CIT (Crisis Intervention Team) training to de-escalate the situation, gain trust, and eventually get her to put the knife down.

Corporal Burcham epitomizes the driving force of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. His care and concern for the citizens of this county served him well this day.
