Resource of the Month: Films on Demand

Chances are you're already familiar with Forsyth County Public Library's huge collection of DVDs. We've got plenty of popular movies and television shows at each location that you can check out for free and we're constantly expanding that collection. But what if you prefer fact over fiction? What if you like to learn something while you're being entertained? Then you should visit our Films on Demand online database. Films on Demand contains thousands of outstanding educational programs, covering a wide variety of subjects - programs from the History Channel, the Biography Channel, BBC, PBS, and more. And since it's a streaming video service, you can access it anywhere as long as you have a computer with a high-speed internet connection.

Are you a history buff? There are a great number of documentaries about historical figures and events. Here's one about early civil rights activist Ida B. Wells:

Are you an aspiring chef? Then scope out the step-by-step cooking videos. Here's one where celebrity chef Jamie Oliver teaches you how to make lamb lollipops: (Don't worry! They're not actually lamb-flavored lollipops!)

Music lover? We've got you covered. There's everything from blues...

...to bluegrass...

...to breaking.

Of course, we could go on and on, but you get the point. There are over 32,000 titles in the Films on Demand collection! We'll leave the exploring to you!
