Chalk, Prizes, & Movie Day at Walkertown, Saturday, July 30th

The last weekend of Forsyth County's Summer Reading Program features Sidewalk Chalk Drawing at 1 pm, followed at 1:30 pm by prizes given away to those reading any amount during June and July. Then at 2:15 pm, Zootopia (PG) will transport our auditorium into a land of animals with a suspenseful animated action-adventure story.

Anyone logging Summer Reading online (hours for kids and teens or titles for adults) has until midnight Sunday, July 31, to make a last entry. Our hardcopy paper entries for the drawing are due 6 pm Friday, July 29. Finish as much time as you can this weekend to be entered into drawings for a $25 Barnes & Noble Bookstore prize gift card for each age group--adults, teens, and children--as well as a countywide prize of a $100 card!

Last year Kernersville artist Donna Water gifted our patio with a remarkable sidewalk chalk reproduction of Picasso's Woman Asleep. Whether you are young, mature, amateur, or professional, you are invited to make your unique marks or drawings on our library's big gray patio and sidewalk. Chalk provided unless you care to bring your own. Remember to protect yourself from the 1 pm sun. Optionally, you may want to bring an outdoor chair.

Along with small prizes of paperback books and summer themed items, our prize raffle at 1:30 pm will include coupons for Hardees and McDonalds as well as . . . Balloon Lady Donna Pruett's sculptures, created at Walkertown Branch on Friday, July 29th! Everyone attending is offered a ticket if you have read any amount during the summer so far. These drawings are separate from the Barnes & Noble gift card giveaways. Thanks to our many donations of new paperback books and food coupons, everyone will go home with SOMETHING from this finale celebration.

We hope to see everyone at Zootopia's 2:15 pm matinee. Enjoy a PG movie beloved by all ages which has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. Allergy friendly snacks will include grapes, celery, pretzels, suckers, freeze pops, and ice-cold water.
