Where to go when GOOGLE fails you

General search engines, search what’s free on the Web, but often the most accurate, educational information resides in what insiders call the “Hidden Web”— password-protected subscription websites typically not open to Web search engines. The library makes these resources available free to every student and library card holder of Forsyth County Public Library. Tapping in through the library’s website can be done from school, at home, or at any other Internet-enabled computer.

SIRS Knowledge Source (SKS) provides a portal to relevant, credible information carefully hand-selected by SIRS editorial staff. When students use SKS, they receive best-of content designed to support student research, study, and homework in key curricula subjects. SIRS Knowledge Source offers National, State, Province and Common Core Standards aligned to content.

SIRS® Issues Researcher helps students make sense of the world by offering relevant, credible resources that tell the whole story on the major issues and world conflicts of the day. Start with SIRS Issues Researcher for background and current analysis necessary for research and understanding of 330+ current and pervasive Leading Issues.

It's all here, enduring issues such as animal rights, capital punishment, health care, immigration, and gun control; and current issues such as energy policy, mass media, World Conflicts including Iran and Syria, virtual schools, and national security and surveillance.

Analysis and opinions cover the pros, cons, and everything in between on the most researched and debated social issues. Editorially created Topic Overview pages help build solid foundations for understanding the issue.
