Program Goals:

  • Walk for 30 minutes per day, 5 days per week
  • Log your walks online to be eligible for prizes
  • Explore the numerous parks and greenways in Forsyth County

Walking Essentials

Equipment: All you need for walking is a good pair of athletic or tennis shoes.

Hydration: Drink water before, during and after your walk to avoid dehydration and overheating.

Personal Safety: When walking outdoors, wear sunscreen and dress in layers for varying temperatures. Be aware of your surroundings at all times, and walk in well-lit areas.

Intensity: Aim for a moderate intensity walk.

Moderate Intensity: "I can talk when I do this, but I can not sing."

Vigorous Intensity: "I am breathing hard and can barely talk when I do this."

Be sure to check with your physician before you begin a new exercise routine.
