January Sworn Staff Member of the Month

Deputy McDowell began his career at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in August 2010 and is currently assigned to the Patrol Section on Baker Platoon.

On the evening of January 29, 2012, Deputy McDowell, was working the dayshift in the NE section of the county. As Deputy McDowell was conducting his daily patrol of the area, he passed by the business of Stoltz Tire and Automotive, located at 4861 New Walkertown Road, Walkertown, N.C.

Deputy McDowell observed an unoccupied pick-up truck parked near the side of the business. Having knowledge that the business was closed, he pulled into the parking lot to further investigate. Deputy McDowell encountered two male subjects near the building and several tires in the bed of the unoccupied truck.

Upon questioning the males as to why they were on the property, Deputy McDowell was told by one of the subjects that they were collecting old tires for money. The owners of Stoltz Tire and Automotive were contacted and responded to the scene. The owners confirmed that they did not know the two males nor did they have permission to be on the property.

Upon further investigation, it was determined that the males were in the process of stealing 6 used tires at a value of $150.00. The suspects were taken into custody and charged with larceny and remanded to the Forsyth County Detention Center under a secured bond.

Deputy McDowell is commended for his actions in preventing this crime from taking place and bringing these suspects to justice.
