Sergeant J. Foster is being nominated for his service over the last five months. There were significant changes in staffing to the Investigative Services Division in May of 2012, including new investigators and supervision including a new Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. These changes can be challenging under the best of circumstances, however during the first week of this transition Lieutenant Mark Elliott was seriously injured in the line of duty while affecting an arrest.

Sgt. Foster was tasked with assuming the responsibilities of acting Lieutenant in addition to his role as Sergeant. He quickly and responsibly rose to the task that was thrust upon him. Sgt. Foster became an anchor and stabilizing force allowing for a smooth transition of new personnel in the Investigative Services Division. Sgt. Foster accepted this role with professionalism and humility. He was essential to the success and the day to day functioning of the Investigative Services Division during the initial transition period and beyond.

Sgt. Foster has proven himself as a true leader in the Investigative Services Division and in the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
