Robin Klar - Walkertown: At the Crossroad

With the work on display at the Walkertown Branch library, it is an honor for the artist to share with the residents of Walkertown a bit of their history. The town has a rich past and there are still many things that the artist would like to capture in the future.

Robin Klar grew up in Falls Creek, a very small central Pennsylvania town that he will always call “Home”. Why, because it is much like Walkertown once was. However, Robin has now lived in Walkertown since 1987. As an artist, he can’t remember a time when art did not play a part in his life. He has enjoyed working in various media, but pen and ink has always fascinated him. With no serious training, Robin has learned mostly by doing. He has taken part in a numerous shows, has received a number of awards, and has had his work used in various publications. His most recent honor was having his work selected, along with 11 other local artists, in a Second Spring Arts show in 2016. The piece reflects the Winston Salem area. Notecards were printed and are to be sold at a later date.

The action portraits of Pennsylvania amateur wrestlers got him started. Studying Physical Education provided him with the anatomical understanding and his own experience helped him capture the action of the sport on paper. When he moved, he had to start drawing other things as wrestling is not nearly as popular here. Thus, he has found great pleasure in drawing and painting birds, flowers and buildings. Robin was a teacher and is currently involved in fitness; however, art has always been a constant. It has been both therapeutic and rewarding. As a husband and father, his family has always been his best cheerleaders and toughest critics. But, it is most satisfying when a piece brightens the life of another. He knows his parents passed on the talent to him, but has always considered it a gift from his Creator. Robin has spent countless hours improving his skills and it is to the glory of God that he continues to develop and use his ability.

Robin Klar's art show Walkertown: At the Crossroad will be on display July through September 2017 at the Walkertown Branch library. All drawings are for sale.
