What will you unearth next week? Summer Reading Highlights for June 8-13

Dinos and movies and escape rooms, oh my! Find out what awaits you across the Forsyth County Public Library system during the first full week of Summer Reading 2026: Unearth a Story.

In addition to more than 20 Storytime programs and eight book club meetings, here's a snapshot of what's happening this week. Click on the links for more information about the programs. Events with an asterisk (*) require registration.

Multi-day programs
*Summer Reading Escape Room at Walkertown Branch Library: Multiple timeslots on June 12-13. Children-adults.
Tiny Art Show Pickup at Reynolda Manor Branch Library through June 19.
Press Play: A Black Music Appreciation Playlist through June 29.

Monday, June 8
Brontorina Marionette Craft at Rural Hall/Stanleyville Branch Library: 3-4 p.m. Ages 4-7.
*STEAM for Teens at Paddison Memorial Branch Library: 4-4:45 p.m. Ages 12-18.

Tuesday, June 9
*Stitch & Switch Sewing Class at Forsyth County Central Library: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Adults.
*Five Mother Sauces with Chef Floyd at Forsyth County Central Library: 1-2 p.m. Adults.
*Realm of Ruins: Build a Lost City Book Nook at Forsyth County Central Library: 3-5 p.m. Ages 13-17.

Prehistoric Movie Day Jurassic World (Rated PG-13) at Carver School Road Branch Library: 1-3 p.m. Teens-adults.
The New Farmers of America and North Carolina History at Forsyth County Central Library: 2-3 p.m. Adults.
*Teen Event: Cretaceous Shadows at Walkertown Branch Library: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Ages 12-17.
Teen Manga Club at Rural Hall/Stanleyville Branch Library: 5-6 p.m. Ages 12-18.

Thursday, June 11
*Cooking with Chef Floyd at Rural Hall/Stanleyville Branch Library: 3-4 p.m. Ages 6-11.
Unearth A Story Film Festival: National Treasure (Rated PG) at Reynolda Manor Branch Library: 5-7:30 p.m. Teens and adults.

Friday, June 12
Bagels, Books, and Bingo at Reynolda Manor Branch Library: 10 a.m.-noon. Adults.
Sittercise at Forsyth County Central Library: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Teens-adults.

Saturday, June 13
Junk Journal Demonstration at Lewisville Branch Library: 11 a.m.-noon. Teens and adults.
Local Author Spotlight: Tamelia and Miguel Keaton at Carver School Road Branch Library: 1-2 p.m. Adults.

Stop by any Forsyth County Public Library branch to pick up Summer Reading calendars, bookmarks with reading recommendations, and Digby cards to track the books you read and the things you do this summer for a chance to win prizes. Summer Reading 2026 runs through Friday, July 31.
