The staff provides administrative support and liaison between the Fire Departments
of Forsyth County and Local, State and Federal agencies and provides support for
the Forsyth County Fire and Rescue Association.
Fire - Rescue
The Division provides a tactical and command support vehicle and crew that responds
to assist on fire and rescue events throughout the County, provides mandated protection
to Smith-Reynolds Airport and supervises staffing programs in various fire stations.
911 Communications Center
This Center manages and is the answering point for all 911 calls outside the City
of Winston-Salem. Communications and dispatch is handled for all City/County EMS
responses, out of county EMS units in route to local medical facilities and emergency
fire-rescue responses throughout Forsyth County.
Fire Inspections - Permits
The Fire Marshal’s Office conducts mandated fire and life safety inspections, public
education programs, construction plans reviews and issues required permits per County
Ordinances and the N.C. State Fire Code.
Investigation - Arson
The Forsyth County Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for responding to the scene
of fires within Forsyth County, and examining fire scenes to determine the origin
and cause of the fire. Our highly qualified personnel are North Carolina State Certified
as Fire / Arson Investigators.
Training & Public Education
The division coordinates the Countywide fire and rescue training curriculums and
programs that provide certifications and specialty training to over 700 emergency
responders involved in the fire and rescue organizations of Forsyth County.
