Particle pollution has risen into the lower Code YELLOW range for AQI as the Triad remains in the warm sector ahead of an approaching cold front that is expected to move through the Triad late this evening into early Saturday morning. Most of the southeastern United States remains loaded with elevated levels of particle pollution, becoming the influencing source of Code YELLOW AQI for the Triad through the weekend. A strong Arctic front is expected to dive in from the northwest late Sunday, bringing a very chilly air mass that will reside over the Triad into early next week. Once the Arctic front passes, particle pollution levels should drop to Code GREEN Sunday evening and persist through Monday. (Payne)
