High pressure building in from the west should continue to lower particle pollution levels this afternoon, but the daily average will likely remain in the MODERATE range for today. Particle pollution AQI is well within the Code GREEN range in the Ohio Valley and Central Plains, which is primarily the upstream sourcing for the Triad for tomorrow. With little localized production of particle pollution expected, AQI will likely fall into the middle to upper Code GREEN range for Tuesday. Particle pollution concentrations are expected to accumulate ahead of a dry cold front that is expected to pass through the Triad late Wednesday, leading to particle pollution AQI rising to the lower Code YELLOW range prior to the passage of the boundary. Another high pressure ridge briefly builds in from the northwest behind the cold front on Thursday, which may lower particle pollution concentrations a bit. However, air quality levels are still expected to remain in the low Code YELLOW range for Thursday. (Payne)
