NOTICE OF BOARD OF ELECTIONS PUBLIC DEMONSTRATION FOR NEW VOTING SYSTEMS

In accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 163-165.7, the Forsyth County Board of Elections shall hold a public demonstration of state-certified voting systems prior to approving the purchase of a new voting system. All interested members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend the demonstration on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Forsyth County Government Center, 201 N. Chestnut Street – 2nd Floor Cooper-Cardwell Board Room, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.

Currently, only systems from ES&S and Hart InterCivic are used by counties in North Carolina. The following voting systems have been certified by the North Carolina State Board of Elections for county boards of elections purchase and use:

• ES&S EVS 6.3.0.0
• ES&S EVS 5.2.4.0
• ES&S Unity 3.4.1.1
• ES&S Unity 3.0.1.1
• Hart InterCivic Verity 2.7
• Hart InterCivic Verity 2.5
• Hart InterCivic Verity 2.2

Forsyth County currently uses the ES&S EVS 5.2.4.0 system including the DS200 precinct tabulators, ExpressVote ballot-marking devices, DS450 and DS850 high-speed central tabulators. The county purchased the voting system and equipment in 2019. Following the recent state certification of EVS 6.3.0.0, the Forsyth County Board of Elections is taking formal steps to purchase the upgraded version of this voting system. This upgrade will not require the replacement of any existing voting machines.
