Gardening Series at Walkertown
Walkertown’s Gardening series is starting up again. For the beginner to the season harvester looking for a new ideas and tips, we have something for everyone. In collaboration with N.C. Cooperative Extension, join us as we cover wide and varied topics this growing season. Join us for one workshop or come to them all.
Beginner Friendly Vegetable Gardening
Monday, April 25 at 12 noon.
For our first workshop in this year’s gardening series our master gardener, Robert Le Pere, will be covering the basics of vegetable gardening. He’ll cover topics like seed starting, soil testing, and how to prepare your garden to ensure a healthy harvest.
Square Gardening 101
Monday, May 9 at 12 noon.
Square foot gardening is the practice of dividing the growing area into small square sections, typically 1 foot on a side, hence the name. The aim is to assist the planning and creating of a small but intensively planted vegetable garden. In this week's workshop, our master gardener will be covering the ends and outs of square foot gardening. Join us to learn how to get the best out of a small garden.

This week we'll cover different tips and tricks to help you maintain your garden over the summer. How to protect your garden against the heat and keep away any unwanted pests.
Monday, June 6 at 12 noon.
This week we'll cover topics such as the benefits of container gardens, how to have a garden while living in an apartment and the difference between perennials and annuals.
Bee and Butterfly Gardens
Monday, June 27 at 12 noon.
A Bee and Butterfly Garden is simply a garden that has been mindfully planted and cultivated with plants and flowers which attract these lovely little insects. This week we'll cover which plants and flowers to grow to help attract these beneficial insects to your garden.
Gardening with kids
Monday, July 11 at 12 noon.
Gardening with kids can be a fun way to spend time together outside. In this workshop we'll cover ways to include young ones into your garden projects.
Monday, August 1 at 12 noon.
As gardening season winds down we'll cover tips and tricks to help prepare your garden for the cold season and be ready to go come next spring.
