On March 13, 2020, Corporal K. Hampton witnessed a vehicle accident on Hwy 52 South. An 18-wheel tractor-trailer drove off the bridge onto Research Parkway. Corporal Hampton was the first law enforcement officer to arrive on the scene. After assessing the scene, Corporal Hampton immediately implemented safety measures due to an active fuel spill and the sight of smoke from the engine. Corporal Hampton, along with several other civilians, successfully extracted the driver from the tractor. Corporal Hampton briefed other responding emergency personnel of the situation. Due to his actions, the driver did not sustain any serious or life-threatening injuries. Corporal Hampton exemplifies the integrity and compassion of a dedicated Sheriff’s Deputy to the citizens of Forsyth County.
