During the month of May, Deputy Sturkie was assigned as Female Intake Officer of the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. On May 25, 2020, Deputy Sturkie conducted a routine and systematic search of the Intake area. Deputy Sturkie located a scheduled substance that had been hidden. Because of Deputy Sturkie’s detailed search policy, she prevented the illegal substances from making it to an inmate housing unit. Deputy Sturkie also prevented drug use and/or a possible overdose from occurring within the detention center. Deputy Sturkie is a team player, always keeps the safety and security of the staff and inmates in mind and continually sets the precedent for her co-workers while on duty.
