Sgt. G. Collins has been employed with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for over 17 years and is currently assigned to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center. While working mandatory overtime, Sgt. Collins responded to an unresponsive resident. Sgt. Collins, along with other detention officers, began life saving measures. The resident was still not breathing on his own, so Narcan (a lifesaving medication that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose) was used. After being administered Narcan three times, the resident began breathing on his own. During Sgt. Collins’ shift the very next evening, a female resident was unresponsive. Sgt. Collins responded and assisted medical staff with lifesaving measures on this individual. Narcan was used twice before the resident began breathing on her own. Sgt. Collins is a leader and exhibits an exemplary work ethic. His due diligence and training saved two lives this month and deserve to be commended and acknowledged as the Detention Staff Member of the Month for August 2022.
