On June 13, 2025, Deputies responded to a critical mental health crisis involving a suicidal individual, who had attempted to end his life by sitting in active lanes of travel on Highway 74. Despite the late hour, inclement weather, and challenging conditions, Deputies conducted an extensive search and successfully located the individual on Germanton Road travelling back towards Highway 74. When attempts to convince the individual to voluntarily seek help failed and he attempted to flee back toward the highway, Deputy Ingram acted with remarkable courage and urgency. In conditions that posed a high risk of injury, including a wet, steep incline, Deputy Ingram pursued the individual and successfully apprehended him in a roadside ditch before he could re-enter traffic. His timely intervention directly prevented the individual from potentially ending his life. It should be noted that the individual had successfully covered roughly half the distance to the highway when Deputy Ingram definitively stopped this flight and apprehended him. Deputy Ingram’s actions exemplified the values of duty, compassion, and bravery. His willingness to place himself at risk to protect the life of another reflects great credit upon himself and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Ingram should be commended for staying in adequate physical fitness and condition to chase down someone 100 lbs. lighter than himself. This is a remarkable feat and directly contributed to his ability to save this man’s life.
