Covid-19 Late List Penalty Waiver Request

Due to the State of Emergency, including the fact that the Internal Revenue Service extended the deadline for filing income taxes to July 15, 2020, there is a likelihood that some taxpayers will have difficulty meeting the April 15, 2020 extended deadline to list personal property. For those who made a timely request for a listing extension and listed after April 15, 2020, you may make a request to the Board of Equalization and Review to waive the late listing penalty.

Extension on RMV Registrations due to Covid-19

A new law (SL 2020-3 signed May 4, 2020) gives NCDMV the ability to extend the validity of vehicle registrations five months for any credential that expires March 1, 2020, through August 1, 2020. Further, it gives NCDMV the authority to waive penalties and interest for this time period. Please see the attached information regarding this change.
