Teen Iniative Project (TIP)
The Teen Initiative Project (TIP) is a coeducational adolescent health program for
young people ages 9 – 21 that live in Forsyth County. TIP covers a variety of adolescent
health and development topics, including:
- Human Sexuality
- Pregnancy and STI Prevention
TIP provides education and training to the community in three ways:
School & Community Presentations:
TIP strives to meet the needs of the community by providing both one-time presentations
as well as curriculum implementation to local schools and community organizations.
In addition to presentations on puberty, dating and prevention, abstinence, self-esteem
and communication, TIP also offers the following curriculums:
- Smart Girls Life Skills Training
- Making Proud Choices
- Making a Difference
- Parents Matters
Peer Educator Training:
TIP offers a peer educator training program for teenagers ages 13-19. The program
trains teenagers to work as educators on our teen pregnancy and STI prevention campaigns
at health fairs and community events. It also offers teenagers an opportunity to
earn community service hours while learning the life-skills that they need to make
healthy decisions and protect themselves in the future.
The program meets throughout the school year (November –June) and meetings are held
every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 5:30 pm -7:30 pm at the health department.
Food and transportation are included for each meeting.
Family Planning Clinic Services:
The TIP Coordinator is available to meet with you or your child on Thursday afternoons
from 1pm – 6:45 pm in the health department’s Family Planning Clinic (Clinic1).
To schedule a health education appointment with the TIP Coordinator or to schedule
a Family Planning appointment, please call (336) 703-3429.
