Do you have a way with words? Don’t be shy! Students in grades 6th through 12th are encouraged to submit a poem with an entry form to compete in this year’s Teen Ink Contest.


Short Story Contest - Black Migrations

All adult writers are encouraged to enter the Carver School Road Branch Library's Black History Month Short Story Contest. The topic is: Black Migrations. Submissions of up to 1000 words must be received by Jan. 31 at your library. The winner will receive a $25 gift card. The winner will also read their work at the Adult Creative Writing Group meeting on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Carver School Road Branch Library.


"Swimming Uptown": Black History Month Celebration Kick-Off

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6-8 p.m., the Central Library will be showing "Swimming Uptown" to help kickstart the celebration of Black History Month and the theme of "Black Migrations." The event is free and open to the public.
