Be Bold. Be Brilliant. Be Brave. Contribute Your Talents to our Community Poem in April
On The Same Poem is a yearly event that celebrates poetry in Forsyth County, as part of National Poetry Month. For this year's celebration, we're creating community poems, entitled, "Branch to Branch." We hope you'll join us in this effort, which runs from April 6-30. Here is our poem so far: What does community mean to you? "Community is the bridge that unites the gaps between each neighbor, A connection that is made from hand to hand reaching out when we're in need of a favor." - JB "Caring and contributing Building and bettering together" JL "Unity, my tribe. Community is my safe place where I can trust that there is no judgement and there will always be a place for me." - DI "Community takes us from fear to love, from confusion to clarity, from despair to hope. We're all in this together." PLF "Community is the bridge that unites the gaps between each neighbor, A connection that is made from hand to hand reaching out when we're in need of a favor." - JB "Sin fronteras y con libros - Without borders and with books, El mundo entero es mi comunidad - The whole world is my community." - EE "Community means giving and receiving a helping hand, learning from each other, smiles from a friendly face, and sharing experiences of our time together on this place called Earth." - KF "Community means you're not alone. That in the darkest times there is someone there to take you by the hand and tell you, "...everything's going to be okay."" - JS "community is a mirror a reflection of your frequency" - JC “Community is finding hope and strength in yourself, so that you can then give that support to your neighbors. Giving joy through helping hands builds up individuals so that they can continue the momentum.” S.S. (Paddison) “On recycling day, plastic-strewn streets; caring hands discard the remainders.” KB (Central) "Libraries support communities and help to reveal their brilliance, bringing people together as a whole to grow and show our resilience." - BH (FCPL) To participate and tap your inner poet without ever leaving home, fill out this form:
