Outreach Services

The Forsyth County Public Library's Outreach division is committed to serving residents of all ages who are unable to visit our library branches. Explore Children's Outreach for all W.O.W. Mobile needs, Adult Outreach for all Homebound Services and Multicultural Services for all services for all customers.

Who We Are

Children's Outreach Services provides library materials, programs and access to computer services to children and families who identify as non-traditional library users. Daycare, homecare providers, and children who attend public school and after school programs are considered in their standard

Adult Outreach Services offers special library services to adult residents, those who identify with able and different impairments along with individuals who are considered homebound.

Multicultural Outreach Services delivers each of the services indicated by the other Outreach divisions, across all audience levels with a focus on services to non-English speakers residing in the Forsyth County community.

Web On Wheels

W.O.W. Mobile

Web On Wheels is our highly interactive mobile library service. We bring mobile library services and programs conveniently to our resident's doors.

Homebound Services

Homebound Services

Residents that are confined temporarily or long-term do not have to miss out on their next read with our Homebound service.

Outreach Kids

Multicultural Services

With a growing community, we provide bilingual programs and library materials for children, teens and adults. Look out for the Bibliobus in your neighborhood.

Eligibility

To be considered eligible or qualify for any outreach or homebound services, an individual or group must:

  • Possess an active Forsyth County Public Library (NC Cardinal) library card and account must be in good standing; and

  • Be without the means ot visit a library branch due in part ot one or more of the following:
    • Daycare or Adult care facility not within walking distance to a branch
    • Daycare, Adult care or recreation center with limited to no transportation
    • Community partner requesting library presence at event
    • Temporary, long-term or permanent illness, injury, impairment, difference, medical condition or disability (Homebound Services)

Policies and Procedures

Outreach Environment/Safety Requirements for Services

Outreach and Homebound services are run by a small yet dedicated staff and their safety is extremely important to us. All customers seeking outreach and homebound services must be able to adhere to the following guidelines to ensure safe and appropriate conditions for our staff members. Some examples of an unsafe conditions include, but are not limited to:

  • If any person at the site presents threatening behavior or harasses the library's representative.
  • If pets are not confined (with the exception of service animals trained to assist a disabled person).
  • If any person at the site exhibits signs of illness that may jeopardize the health of the library's representative.
  • If any person at the site fails to follow expressed instructions from staff that may cause unsafe conditions.
  • And if conditions at the site are unsafe.

If a staff member must leave the site due to concerns about their safety, they will notify the Outreach Diversity and Inclusion Manager and the Library Director. Service will be suspended until the issues reported are resolved.
