February is Black History Month. This year's theme is Black Migrations. Join us as we present programs throughout the month that focus on this important theme as well as other programs and activities that celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans to society.
All adult writers are encouraged to enter the Carver School Road Branch Library's Black History Month Short Story Contest. The topic is: Black Migrations. Submissions of up to 1000 words must be received by Jan. 31 at your library. The winner will receive a $25 gift card. The winner will also read their work at the Adult Creative Writing Group meeting on Thursday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at the Carver School Road Branch Library.

On Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 6-8 p.m., the Central Library will be showing "Swimming Uptown" to help kickstart the celebration of Black History Month and the theme of "Black Migrations." The event is free and open to the public.
