Jacqueline Dorminy: A Story of Dance

We invite you to join us for a dance down memory lane with Ms. Mary Ruth Dobbins. Ms. Dobbins is the author of Miss Dorminy Speaking: Highlights of My Life, a book that chronicles the real life tales of Jacqueline Dorminy, one of Winston-Salem’s most prominent citizens.

Ms. Dorminy was among other things the owner and director of the Dorminy Dance Studios which she started in 1932 and through which many generations of local children learned various forms of dance.

At one time Ms. Dorminy operated 12 dance studios in Forsyth County in addition to traveling all over the country with nationally recognized dance organizations. Mary Ruth Dobbins will be reading passages from her book as well as commenting on her collaboration with Ms. Dorminy for her book.
