The ABC's of Lawn Care with Toby Bost

If you are scratching your head about what to do to have a great looking lawn, you will not want to miss this gardening talk.

Toby Bost, author and Extension agent emeritus, is presenting information that will help any frustrated homeowner get their tall fescue lawn back on track. Topics include: weed control, fertilization, variety selections and cultural practices. The class is free.

Raised in Winston-Salem, NC, Toby Bost graduated from NC State University in 1978 with both BS and Masters Degrees in Horticulture science. Toby served Tar Heel gardeners for 31 years as an Extension Agent with NC Cooperative Extension Service. For two decades he recruited and trained more than 400 Master Gardener volunteers in Durham and Forsyth Counties. He organized professional Green Industry events and garden shows; he was a frequent guest on radio and in other media outlets.

Toby continues to assist gardeners by writing the monthly online gardening newsletter for Our State magazine and occasional features for Carolina Gardener.

His popular books have helped gardeners conquer stubborn clay soils and grow healthy lawns and gardens. The newest book releases are: Successful Gardener Guide (Blair Publishers, 2011 and the Carolinas Gardener’s Handbook (Cool Springs Press, 2012). He is a garden coach and owns Bost Consulting.

Toby enjoys gardening, golf and fishing—all are seasonal passions for him! He and his wife, Becky, have two adult children, who are both educators.
