Annual Foster Appreciation Event Held!

Big thanks to Resource Families!

Big thanks to sponsors of the appreciation event!

Social Services Family and Children’s Division held their annual resource families Appreciation Picnic at First Christian Church, Kernersville in late May for Foster, Adoptive, Relative (also called kinship) and LINKS families.

The appreciation served 225 people with an evening of fun, food and activities for the entire family. Activities included a family meal, music, face painting, clowns, games, inflatable bounce activities, and relaxation activities for adults. The event was co-sponsored by the Forsyth County Department of Social Services and by First Christian Church’s Orphan Care Ministry.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped coordinate the event. Resource families such as Foster, Adoptive, Relative and LINKS families help make the lives of children safe and more complete. Additionally, Resource families help social workers bridge gaps and maintain connections to best meet the individual needs of each child. We appreciate our foster and adoptive families who have fostered a child and/or become an adoptive parent. We also thank the unofficial foster families, kinship or relative family members who are family and extended members to children who have parented a child when he or she was in need of a stable home.
