Library Director Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin Named North Carolina Public Library Director of the Year

Forsyth County Public Library Director Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin was named the 2014 North Carolina Public Library Director of the Year by the North Carolina Public Library Directors Association at their recent fall meeting in Pinehurst.

Ms. Hamlin became the first African American and first female Library Director in Forsyth County when she succeeded retiring Director William Roberts III, January 1, 2000.

Under her leadership new Branch Libraries have been built on Carver School Road and in Lewisville and a new Reynolda Manor Branch was opened in a renovated movie theater on Fairlawn Drive. She has also been instrumental in the planning for a renovated Central Library (scheduled opening, spring of 2017) and for new Branch Libraries scheduled for Kernersville and Clemmons.

Forsyth County Public Library is the fourth largest public library system in North Carolina.
