BAM! POW! READ!

Summer is almost here and Forsyth County Public Library has planned a Summer Reading Program of heroic proportions for all ages! From the Kick Off on June 5th featuring Criss Cross Mangosauce, to the last week of guest performers and Finale parties at the end of July, we have planned hundreds of ways for the library to enrich and enliven your summer.

Some of our favorite local performers such as the Balloon Lady and Captain Jim--the pirate magician, will be performing at our branch locations in June and July. Learn about our real life local heroes in the Police, Sheriff, and Fire Departments, as well as some their canine helpers. Take the opportunity to engage in learning with programs that appeal to a variety of ages and interests presented by the North Carolina Zoo, Flow Circus, and our own North Carolina Room. We will have the fabulous Bright Star Theatre as our system-wide performer, and NY Times bestselling author Dorothea Benton Frank will be spending an afternoon with us. Then there are the programs presented by all your favorite library staff to challenge and beguile you. And this is just the tip of the iceberg!

Prizes are also a part of Summer Reading and we will not disappoint! Every reader that completes a summer reading log (that’s 480 minutes for kids and teens, 3 books for adults) will be entered into prize drawings for Barnes & Noble gift cards worth $25 and $100, AND every child under the age of 13 who completes a reading log will also be entered into a drawing to win two free tickets to a Wake Forest football game. Go Deacs!

Check out our Summer Reading webpage to see calendars, booklists, information, and to sign up for your summer reading log. It’s easier to do than ever before and we are here to assist you with all your questions. Just remember that every hero has a story and, if you unmask yours, you can escape the ordinary @ the library!
