This week in Summer Reading!

Finding something fun to do this summer has never been so easy. You can find books, movies, and programs at every Forsyth County Public Library branch, in fact, check out these programs coming to a library near you:

Carver School Road Branch Library will be hosting LEGO Lab on Friday, June 12 at 2pm; all children are welcome. Stick around for LEGO Lab Movies at 3pm, where you can watch the LEGO movies made by the kids in the LEGO lab! If Storytime is what your kids are craving, join the Saturday Family Storytime, June 13 at 11am at the Southside Branch Library.

For teens (grades 6-12) this week, the Library is hosting some fun make-your-own jewelry sessions. Tuesday, June 9 at 3:30pm at the Lewisville Branch Library you can make some beautiful metal stamped jewelry, so come pound out your frustrations and create something beautiful. Wednesday, June 10 at 2:30pm, Walkertown Branch Library will be keeping it small but great, with polymer clay charms. Learn to make something out of clay and take home a lasting memory.

We didn’t forget the adults! Friday, June 12 at 10am at Malloy-Jordan East Winston Heritage Center, Dr. Goldie Frinks Wells will share information about the life of Civil Rights activist Golden Frinks, who worked with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. For the food connoisseurs, Rural Hall Branch Library will be hosting Chocolate Fest, June 12 at 2pm. Brent Peters from Black Mountain Chocolate Factory will talk about the process and history of chocolate. Registration is required for this event.

Don’t forget our Summer Reading prizes: every reader that completes a summer reading log (that’s 480 minutes for kids and teens, 3 books for adults) will be entered into drawings for Barnes & Noble gift cards worth $25 and $100, AND every child under the age of 13 who completes a reading log will also be entered into a drawing to win two free tickets to a Wake Forest football game. Go Deacs!

Check out our Summer Reading page to link to calendars, booklists, information, and to sign up for your summer reading log. It’s easier to do than ever before and we are here to assist you with all your questions. Just remember that every hero has a story and, if you unmask yours, you can escape the ordinary @ the library!

Kids and Teens here's a special achievement code for this week: SR15Wk1. Come back each week for a new code and like our Facebook page for even more codes.
