Understanding Vascular Dementia

Tuesday, May 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Southside Branch Library

Vascular dementia is a decline in thinking skills caused by cerebrovascular disease, a condition in which blood vessels in the brain are damaged and brain tissue injured, depriving brain cells of vital oxygen and nutrients. Vascular dementia is widely considered the second most common cause of dementia after Alzheimer's disease, accounting for 5 percent to 10 percent of cases. Many experts believe that vascular dementia remains under-diagnosed — like Alzheimer's disease — even though it's recognized as common.

If you have a loved one who has been diagnosed with vascular dementia, we urge you to join us for this free class presented by Dr. Mia Yang of Wake Forest Baptist Health.
