Holiday Films: Charles Dickens

We're celebrating the 176th anniversary of Charles Dickins' novella "A Christmas Carol" published on Dec. 19, 1843. We'll be showing three films centered around the timeless story. The library will provide hot cocoa and participants are welcome to bring snacks. All ages welcome.

10 a.m. - "The Muppet Christmas Carol"
The Muppet characters tell their version of the classic tale of an old and bitter miser's redemption on Christmas Eve. Starring Michael Caine. (G)

11:30 a.m. - "Disney's A Christmas Carol"
An animated retelling of Charles Dickens' classic novel about a Victorian-era miser taken on a journey of self-redemption, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions. Starring Jim Carrey, Gary Oldman, and Robin Wright. (PG)

2 p.m. - "The Man Who Invented Christmas"
The journey that led to Charles Dickens' creation of "A Christmas Carol," a timeless tale that would redefine Christmas. Starring Dan Stevens and Christopher Plummer. (PG)

All three films were produced by Walt Disney Pictures.
