Are Your Boxwood Plants Sick?

We are seeing some cases of boxwood blight in Forsyth County. This is a plant disease that impacts boxwoods (Buxus spp.), sweetbox (Sarcococca spp.), and pachysandra (Pachysandra spp.). There is no cure for boxwood blight, however boxwoods can experience damage from another of other pest problems. So, proper diagnosis is essential!

Late summer is a common time to see boxwood blight symptoms in our area - the warm, humid weather can be conducive to disease development. If you think you have boxwood blight, read this article for more information on boxwood blight.

Contact your local Extension office if you would like assistance with sending a plant sample to the NC State Plant Disease and Insect Clinic for diagnosis of boxwood blight.
