Local Heroes: Junior Firefighters

Are you a teen looking for opportunities to serve your community or wanting to learn about a future career path? The youth firefighter (commonly known as fire cadets or junior firefighters) may be an option for you. The youth volunteer firefighter program provides teens, starting at age 14, the chance to learn about local fire, rescue, and emergency medical services in safe, controlled, educational and fun ways. Teens learn real-life skills, experience opportunities to build their leadership skills and gain an understanding of the importance of community.

Capt. William McBride of the Lewisville and Clemmons Fire Departments will be onsite at the Lewisville Branch with his junior cadets to share with interested teens and their parents the importance of this program and how it is designed to not only teach teens about fire services but also build confidence and prepare participants to be our future community leaders. The Youth Firefighter program is a free annual program. For more information, please contact Capt. William McBride, Lewisville and Clemmons Youth Program Advisor at wfmcbride@clemmonsfd.com.
