Art by Jeanette Yarbrough

Since childhood Jeanette has taken great pleasure in using her artistic creativity while drawing, painting, and sculpting. Most of her art is two-dimensional, varying from portraits to abstracts, to landscapes, and still-life scenes. Jeanette's favorite medium is oil, favored for its richness and lush color, but she also works in watercolor and pastels. Her unique style is “impressionistic.” Jeanette is currently working on illustrations for some children’s books.

Primarily, Jeanette works from her home studio, but she also takes art lessons with some well-known artists such as Linda Weaver, Nick Bragg, and Bill Gramley. She is a member of the Associated Artists of Winston-Salem, NC, and has recently been accepted as a juried member.

Jeanette's work is widely exhibited. Annually she participates in “Fall for Art” sponsored by Flow BMW of Winston-Salem. One of her paintings hangs at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. In 2013, she exhibited in the “Nostalgia” show at Davidson County Community College. Other community exhibitions include Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Lewisville, Centenary United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, the Carolina Classic Fair in Winston-Salem, and most recently the Forsyth County Public Library in Lewisville.

Recent recognitions include:
· Honorable mention in a member-juried show at Winston-Salem Associated Artists in 2014.
· Three awards from Light, Space, and Time, an online juried website.
· Inclusion in “Dimensions”, a national juried show with Associated Artists.
· Publication of my illustration of a fairy tale in Forsyth Family Magazine, February 2015.
