Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Shed

Do you have the backyard blues because of runoff from heavy rain events? Stormwater SMART’s Danica Heflin will be at the Lewisville Branch on Saturday, March 18 at 11 a.m. to help you learn three simple strategies to control the flow: disconnection (downspout redirection), collection (rain barrels), and naturalization (gardening with native flowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees). These methods make your landscape more resilient during and after heavy storms and help you save money on utilities. You’ll also be helping to improve the water quality in our creeks, streams, and rivers! What better way to join in the celebration of Forsyth Creek Week (March 18 - 26) by attending this event?

Need more motivation? Lucky participants will take home helpful freebies: You could win a rain barrel, mature native plants, wildflower seeds, gardening guides, or a combination of prizes! Registration is encouraged but not required (see below).

For those not able to attend the March 18th event at the Lewisville Branch, this program will also be held at the Paddison Memorial Branch on Tuesday, March 21 at 10 a.m. See below for more details.

Our presenter, Danica Heflin, is the environmental programs coordinator for Stormwater SMART of the Piedmont Triad Regional Council. Stormwater SMART is a cooperative partnership between county and municipal governments and has as its goal education and outreach about stormwater pollution, water quality issues, and water conservation.
