Why Do People Hoard and How Can We Help?

Hoarding is a compulsive need to collect and hold on to items regardless of their value. In this one-hour session, "Eldercare: Understanding Hoarding," a member of the Geriatric Adult Specialty Team (GAST) of Partners Health Management will discuss the causes of hoarding, the differences between hoarding and collecting, and interventions to help with hoarding. Registration is requested. To register or for more information about the series, please email Sue or call the Lewisville Branch Library at 336-703-2940.

"Eldercare: Understanding Hoarding" is the first in a series of monthly eldercare programs held at the Lewisville Branch to be presented by GAST, a team of registered nurses, licensed clinicians, and mental health professionals. GAST is charged with increasing the community’s knowledge and understanding of mental health and substance use issues facing older adults. These programs are for the general public as well as for caregivers and those working in care centers needing continuing education credits. Please see below for additional upcoming dates and topics.
